How AELC providers clean ceiling fans
Every provider follows the AELC Source-Control Method: capture the dust, don't move it.
- IdentifyCount fans, note height, blade count and buildup, and switch each fan off and let it stop completely.
- CaptureVacuum the top of each blade with a HEPA source-capture vacuum using a fan-blade or curved tool, so dust is pulled in rather than pushed off.
- ContainWipe both sides of each blade with damp microfiber.
- CleanDegrease blades and housings where kitchen or patio film is present; wash glass globes.
- VerifyRun each fan to confirm smooth operation and photograph results.

Why does dust fly everywhere when I turn on my ceiling fan?
Dust settles on the top of the blades while the fan is off and is thrown off when it starts spinning. Regular source-capture cleaning prevents it.
How long does it take to clean a commercial ceiling fan?
About 10 to 15 minutes for a standard fan at normal height, longer for greasy patio fans or fans with light kits.
Do you clean outdoor patio fans?
Yes, covered patio fans are included. They often need degreasing because of outdoor dust, humidity and cooking smoke.
