Frequently asked questions
Quick answers for facility managers and cleaning companies about Above Eye Level Cleaning, pricing, scheduling and the AELC network.
For facilities
What is Above Eye Level Cleaning?
Above Eye Level Cleaning (AELC) is the professional cleaning of every surface and object above normal eye level in a commercial building: HVAC registers and returns, lights, fans, TVs, cameras, speakers, signs, beams, pipes, exposed ductwork and ceilings.
What does Above Eye Level Cleaning cost?
Routine high dusting commonly runs about $0.08–$0.18 per square foot of floor area; itemized work commonly runs $10–$25 per vent, $15–$50 per ceiling fan and $8–$20 per light fixture. Each provider sets its own prices.
How often should it be done?
Every three months for restaurants, bars, gyms and medical offices; every six to twelve months for offices, retail, schools, churches and warehouses.
Will you work when we are closed?
Yes. Providers schedule overnight, early morning or weekend work so your business is not disrupted.
Do you clean inside air ducts or kitchen hoods?
No. Duct interiors and hood exhaust systems are specialty trades. AELC cleans vent faces, duct exteriors, hood exteriors and the surfaces around them.
How is dust kept off my tables and merchandise?
Providers protect surfaces below and capture dust at the source with HEPA vacuums and damp microfiber instead of knocking it down.
Do I get proof of the work?
AELC providers document work with before-and-after photos in a service report.
For cleaning companies
Who can join AELC?
Established, independently owned cleaning companies: janitorial, commercial cleaning, maid and specialty cleaning businesses that carry general liability insurance.
What does membership cost?
$379 one time for sign-up and training, then $179 per month, or $1,790 per year. No royalties, no percentage of sales and no required purchases.
Is AELC a franchise?
No. AELC provides marketing, education and technology to independent businesses. Members keep their own company name, set their own prices, hire their own staff and contract directly with customers.
Do I have to buy expensive equipment?
No. The AELC START tier is built around high-reach attachments and microfiber tools that work with a commercial HEPA vacuum many companies already own.
Are leads guaranteed?
No. Members are eligible for requests from facilities in their service area, but AELC does not promise a number of leads or any level of income.
